The Venue
Refurbished to a high standard in 2009, Inn on the Beach is one of Hayling Island's most loved locations with a growing reputation for quality food & fine ales. Sun bathing or storm watching, it’s one of the south coast’s destination pubs all year round.
The building has a heritage stretching back to 1856 when it was the first lifeboat station on Hayling Island. You can see a full history here.
Hayling Island is also the birthplace of wind surfing, which was invented by Peter Chilvers in 1958. Directly to the west is the best beach for windsurfing on the south coast, which is great to watch from the warmth of the pub.
If you can't spot the windsurfers, the bar and conservatory also give a great view of the incoming and departing ocean liners leaving Portsmouth and Southampton.
